Man claims he was kicked off plane 'because of tattoos'

A rapper posted a message to fans on social media, claiming he was kicked off a JetBlue flight because of his tattoos.

Jin Gates alleged the airline discriminated against him because of his tattoos and claimed the flight attendant didn’t “feel safe on the place with us”.

However, the airline responded saying a decision to remove a customer was not taken lightly.

Gates, who is reportedly a Korean-American hip-hop artist, posted a short video which appears to show him and at least one other person removing their belongings from the aircraft and walking down the aisle.

Gates wrote on Instagram: “Minnesota I’m sorry not my fault… @JetBlue DONT LIKE ASIAN WITH TATTOOS…. we got kicked off the plane because the flight attendant said she don’t feel safe on the plane with us.

The artist had been attempting to travel to a performance, which he ended up missing, The International Business Times reports.

His post continues: “As u can see even when i got kicked off i was still respectful.”

“The main supervisor asked everyone around us if we did something wrong or if they heard me being disrespectful all the passengers said i did nothing wrong!!!!”

The post drew plenty of support from Gates’ fans, with one saying “this is wrong! I’m sorry this happened to you”.

Another said he handled the situation “the right way”.

But others questioned the story.

“No one would kick you off of a flight because of your tattoos. There’s more to the story, please share,” one said.

Another social media user, who claims to be a flight attendant for the airline, wrote: “The supervisor would not have asked other customers what happened. And the captain always has final say.”

“You also started filming at a very specific time. Now I’m not saying that this isn’t true but there are always two sides.”

JetBlue said in a statement to SFGate the decision to remove a customer was not taken lightly.

“In this instance, after the customer started a verbal altercation with our crew member, our team determined the situation risked escalation during flight,” JetBlue told the publication.

“The team asked the customers to deplane and their fare was refunded.”
