Commuters are being warned to brace for major delays across Melbourne train's network during peak hour after multiple track faults at Flinders Street Station.
Hundreds of commuters were left stranded at Southern Cross Station as the meltdown hit, with large queues snaking out of the station and into the city.
Bourke Street was also left in chaos with dozens of people spotted trying to catch a tram as an alternative.
Passengers on Alamein, Belgrave, Lilydale and Glen Waverley lines are advised that services will be departing from alternative platforms at Flinders Street Station.
Alternative transport is recommended, with delays of up to 30 minutes anticipated.
