Mark Zuckerberg 'to testify before US Congress' on data leak to Cambridge Analytica

MARK Zuckerberg has finally decided to testify before Congress, according to a report.

Facebook’s 33-year-old CEO “has come to terms with the fact that he will have to testify before Congress within a matter of weeks, and Facebook is currently planning the strategy for his testimony,” CNNMoney reported, citing unnamed Facebook sources.

The report added that “the pressure from politicians, the media and the public has become too intense to justify anything less.”

That’s despite the fact that Mr Zuckerberg has refused to appear before the UK parliament to answer questions about Facebook’s privacy practices, insisting that other executives at the social network would be better informed to answer their questions about the scandal.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley has officially invited Mr Zuckerberg, along with Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Twitter CEO Jaqck Dorsey to a hearing on data privacy on April 10.

The hearing on Capitol Hill promises to be a spectacle, as Mr Zuckerberg grapples to contain the damage over revelations that Facebook spilt the data of over 50 million users to Cambridge Analytica, a firm with ties to the Trump campaign.
